The idea for Genesis VR was started by the Norwegian consultant Ståle Fredriksen who works in the field of psychiatry for elderly people. His idea was to create a VR application to help elderly who suffer from various degrees of depression.
Four Students from the Inland Norway University Of Applied Sciences worked one semester to create a prototype that could be used to get an idea what such a game might look like and also to help on further development of the project.
